Other then the apparent scars that acne leaves behind perhaps some of the deeper level of scaring are the ones that are underneath the surface of the skin. Underneath the physiology of the body and into the mental space how we see ourselves internally.
Among the most difficult issues to work through is dealing and overcoming the physiological emotional wounds that acne leaves behind. Those that can not be seen by the naked eye or with medical instrumentation.
The mind is not easily treated as it would be to treat surface level imperfections. For years some of the internal “break outs” pass by undetected and is only reflected on ones experience of day to day life. While diverse type of procedures can be executed upon the skin to remove acne and acne scars, psychological treatment is not so readily available.
While a boost of confidence can result from obtaining clear skin, the inner fear that the problem will return lingers in the back of ones mind. For some a case of over confidence could be a symptom of the deep emotional wounds of dealing with acne for extensive periods of time. For others even though they have been freed from acne the shyness and insecurity remains part their behavior.
Perhaps it might sound like a farfetched idea to practice self forgiveness to one self. What normally happens is that people tend to blame them selves and their genetics for the emotional distress acne has caused. It is important to realize that it is not anyone’s fault specially our own. So letting go of the blame is an essential part of the healing process.
The second step is acknowledge that things only have the meaning we give it, and looking at it from a bigger perspective of our own compared to the challenges that many other people in the world confront daily. Being mindful that we control our emotions, being grateful for all the wonderful things that are available to us on a daily basis.
Perhaps one of the most critical components to fully adopt as a philosophy and day to day when working of preventing acne all together is being consistent. Doing the things that have time and time again shown that can prevent the reappearance of acne. That what ever it takes outlook and commitment to results and thinking ahead will lead to a life of clear skin.
While there is no exact cure for acne, in fact it can’t be cured rather it is prevented being committed to an end result is what counts. When experimenting with a treatment set it in your mind that it is not going to cure it, you are only testing to see how your body responds to it, and if it’s something that you should consider investing more resources into. If not then move on to experimenting with something else. By being committed to an end result rather then each process it will keep you motivated and closer to being acne free.
