For some beauty-conscious individuals, any sign of acne on their faces is unacceptable and should be eliminated quickly. Signs and symptoms of acne show up not only on the skin of women and teenagers but also on men and adults. With so many people become too conscious about their looks, more and more beauty products are manufactured every year. Signs and symptoms of acne can only be eliminated properly if treated prior to determining the causes. The major causes of acne are:

There is hormonal disturbance in the body. Some people believe that acne is an inflammation on the skin due to hormonal disturbance particularly on the male hormones known as testosterone.

The skin of teenagers has higher risk to developing acne because their bodies are in a state of testosterone production. This production of testosterone affects the secretion of oil. In effect, the body produces unnecessary oil, which causes clogging on the pores and development of acne.

There is an overproduction of skin cells on the body. Retention hyperkeratosis is one of the reasons of overproduction of skin cells. In this situation, the skin is more vulnerable to acne because it cannot discard dead skin cells properly.

Aside from internal causes, the pollution in the air and the environment can also cause acne. Pollution helps in the production of bacteria on the skin. If these bacteria grow and infect the surface of the skin, acne will be developed.

In some cases, the cause of acne is too deep. Acne developed from this situation is so terrible and troublesome. This type of acne is called severe cystic acne.

Aside from the building up of oil, bacteria and dirt in the pores, severe cystic acne is a result of infected skin pores. This acne is too severe that ordinary skin treatment products cannot treat it. It is so complicated because the oil, bacteria and dirt are embedded deeply in the skin.

Furthermore, the bacteria replicate faster because they have more than enough food supply deep within the skin. A person with severe cystic acne is encouraged to consult a dermatologist before treating it.
