Since acne is a problem experienced by millions of teenagers throughout the world, a number of skin care products have been developed to treat that condition. Most medicated products sold at pharmacies contain benzoyl peroxide and can help treat the major symptoms of acne. Benzoyl peroxide has been shown to cause skin flaking, redness, and in rare cases swelling and rashes.

Some essential oils used to treat acne are lavender, chamomile, clary sage, lemon and bergamot. It is best that you purchase organic essential oils since the plants they are derived from are not sprayed with pesticides and herbicides. Since those chemicals are toxic they can cause allergic reactions and will cause additional irritation to your skin. If you have acne lesions on your skin, the tropical fruit papaya is beneficial since it helps prevent scarring.

Tea tree oil is an effective antibacterial compound and is found in many natural acne skin care products. This wonderful oil comes from the Australian tree Melaleuca Alternifolia. It has been found to be antibacterial, anti viral, and is effective against antibiotic resistant bacteria. It is claimed to be non toxic and is much more potent than carbolic acid. Most aromatherapists recommend diluting this essential oil before applying it to the skin in order to prevent any negative skin reactions.

In order to effectively treat acne, it is important that you a medicated cleanser and toner on your skin each day. You can either purchase a conventional cleanser found at your local pharmacy or buy one that contains botanical ingredients. Whichever one you choose, do not apply them to your skin with your hands since the bacteria present on them could further infect your skin lesions. Instead, you should apply the cleanser with a wash cloth and the toner with a cotton ball.

An effective acne skin care regimen will require using a cleanser, toner and jojoba bead scrub on your skin daily. A beneficial cleanser should be able to effectively wash out dead skin cells and debris from the skin follicles. Skin toners containing alpha hydroxy acids are useful at unclogging skin pores and should be part of a total treatment plan. A jojoba bead scrub can act as a type of laser resurfacing treatment and can eliminate scar tissue and blemishes.

Botanicals have been used for many centuries to treat different diseases. It is not surprising that they also are being used to treat acne. In many cases these same botanicals are also combined with other natural compounds to treat this skin condition. One such compound is Phlorogine, a natural algae scientifically shown to significantly control the symptoms of acne.

Acne is condition that should be treated by a board certified dermatologist. Despite the many medicated treatments available on the market today, there are alternative approaches that can be used to treat this debilitating cosmetic problem. Utilize the power of nature to help you successfully treat your acne skin care condition.
