Which Bruise Treatment Will Cause Your Bruise To Heal Quickest?
Bruises occur when soft tissues of the body suffer impact breaking tiny blood vessels under the skin and causing blood to escape and gather just below the skin. Some bruises can be very painful, while others are hardly noticeable until you actually see them. There are bruise treatments that can help reduce the severity of those painful ones and make them feel better and heal faster.
Bruises respond well to cold treatment, so place ice in a plastic re-closeable bag, wrap in a hand towel and apply to the area. Frozen peas are a good alternative to ice, because the peas move around and the cold can get mold to the body for ultimate cold coverage of the bruise. Wrap them in a towel too so as not to cause freeze damage to the skin.
The bruise will be affected two different ways by the cold application. It will stop any swelling that may occur. It will also reduce the bleeding caused by breakage of the blood vessels, and the bruise size may be diminished slightly.
The best way to treat a bruise that is on the leg or foot is to elevate it for about twelve to twenty four hours. The blood will stop seeping from the capillaries if the leg is raised. If the bruise is painful, you can take acetaminophen, or you can take ibuprofen, but never take aspirin. Aspirin causes the blood to stay thinner and not clot as quickly, so your bruise may become larger if you take aspirin. Be aware if you take aspirin or blood thinners of any kind a bruise can become much more difficult to treat.
If the bruise is still giving you problems after 48 hours you can apply a warm compress to the bruise for 10 minutes about 3 times per day. This prompts the body to re-absorb the blood back into itself, and the bruise will fade. This does not work in all cases, based on the timing of the compress and the individual.
There are a few products on the market that treat existing bruises, and you can usually find them in drug stores and on the internet. Most of them contain vitamin A and vitamin K because these vitamins will reduce the discoloration of the skin and bring on natural healing from the body. Arnica is also a substance that is in bruise treatments and can be found in ointments, pills, and the most common gel form. It should be applied about 4 times a day.
A great herbal remedy is to use comfrey which has been used to treat bruises for a very long time. Grow it in a garden, or find the crushed leaves at an herbal supply store. It is most often sold just like other herbs and spices but never use it internally as there is suspicion that it can be a cause of cancer. Using it on the body in a topical manner has been proven to be safe. Take the crushed leaves and steep a tablespoon of them in a cup of boiling water for about 15 minutes, covered. When it is cool enough to touch dab a cotton ball in and dab it on the bruise and let it air dry. Do this several times a day. If you have the leaves from the garden take a heavy object and pound the leaf to extract its juices then cover it with the cup of boiling water and steep covered for 15 minutes. Dab the infusion on the bruise but then take the leaf and lay it over the bruise. Using a cloth bandage attach it to the area and leave it on for 2 to 3 hours.
When bruises heal they will turn a variety of colors. It will be red or purple at first, then change to a green color, then to yellow before complete healing is accomplished. Do not look for a total cure for existing bruises, because there is not one currently available. The above preparations can help to make them heal faster. If you still have the bruise after two or three weeks, you should discuss this situation with your doctor. This may be a symptom of a more serious condition that affects clotting of your blood. A more sensible solution is to follow the all natural Bruises Be Banned daily supplement program instead of simply trying to treat existing bruises. The Bruises Be Banned program has been proved by people worldwide to help stop bruising completely.
