Acne Treatment Home Remedies can be a valuable and affordable solution to the universal problem of facial acne. Though acne affects everyone, to the one suffering its embarrassing effects, it often feels as if you are the only one afflicted. Thankfully, this embarrassing and often-stubborn problem doesn’t require a trip to the dermatologist. All you need to be acne free can be found in the comfort of your own home.

Acne is caused by an overflow of facial oils called sebum, which block pores and can cause everything from pesky whiteheads, to nodular and cystic acne which can cause pain and leave permanent scars. Luckily, there are many products around the house that can both help regulate the oil on your skin and help soothe the redness and inflammation that is the hallmark of more serious acne.

Before you go to work finding things to use in your kitchen and garden, stop for a minute and think. Could makeup be the culprit? Oil-based foundation can often be the main cause of many acne breakouts. Getting off makeup cold turkey could be just what your skin needs. However, for many this is simply not an option. Luckily, if going cold-turkey isn’t for you, one can purchase water-based makeup at a higher price.

Diet is another area that might be at fault. While grease and chocolate aren’t good for you, that doesn’t mean that they’re at fault. Instead, foods that are high in Iodine can lead to some of the worst breakouts. One major source of Iodine is cow’s milk. Removing milk from your diet may do wonders for skin. In search of a substitute, you might try rice or goat’s milk as an alternative.

In addition, your kitchen and garden are simply overflowing with natural topical treatments. One proven method involves a solution made with nutmeg and milk applied to the face nightly. This can reduce inflammation and redness. Another possibility is honey. Honey is a proven infection-fighter, and can help kill the virus that causes acne blemishes. Try putting it on before bed, making sure that it has a chance to dry on first.

Saltwater is another solution. Washing your face nightly in saltwater can help remove excess oils from the skin. This, in turn, can prevent clogged pores which can stop acne before it even starts. It’s also much safer than harsh alcohol-based astringents that can dry out and irritate the skin.

With the above remedies, you’ll be acne-free in no time at all!
