What Are The Different Moisturizing Ingredients?

When a product is named as moisturizing or hydrating, its function comes from the moisturizing ingredients. There are many different moisturizing ingredients available and some of them are more effective than others. But, by taking a look at the most famous skincare brands, you will discover there are certain ingredients that are highly used by these brands.

Hyaluronic Acid is the most powerful moisturizing ingredient in skincare industry. Its moisture absorption power is a lot more higher than our skin cells. It is able to replenish moisture to our epidermis in a short period of time. When skin fibers and collagen are filled with moisture, our skin is nourished and elastic.

Hydrolyzed Collagen Protein is the small protein that is broken from the larger collagen by hydrolysis. It contains up to 17 different amino acids that are required by human body and skin. It is able to maintain the complete structure of skin fibers and facilitate skin metabolism. Therefore, skin is nourished and stays young.

There are many natural moisturizing ingredients and one of them is Jojoba Oil. Jojoba oil is a mild ingredient that is suitable for sensitive skin. It has a light texture which is easily absorbed by skin. It can maintain high moisture level in your skin for 8 hours long.

Another natural moisturizing ingredient that is commonly found in skincare products is Apricot Kernel Oil. Similar to Jojoba oil, Apricot Kernel Oil is also mild enough for sensitive and acne skin. Its high penetrating power plays an important part in its high moisturizing power. Other than moisturizing, it also reduces ageing and damages from UV light.

Glycerin is a common moisturizing agent used in many skincare products. In fact, its moisturizing power is about average. But it is very mild and is suitable for all skin types (even the sensitive skin). It is not recommended to use glycerin alone as a moisturizer because it absorbs moisture from skin when humidity is under 50 percent.
