Advice and Trends for Winter Makeup

Winter is dull and boring. However, there is no reason your makeup has to be dull and boring as well. Check out our tips to keep winter makeup looking hot even in the coldest of temperatures!

Next, look for a foundation that provides a little more coverage than you wear in the spring and summer. You don’t have to wear anything that is mask-like, but most women can benefit from a little more coverage in the winter. Plus, you won’t need to worry about the staying power of your foundation like you do in the warm weather. Also, I suggest you try a nice moist finish. It will keep your skin looking fresh instead of dry.

Keep powders to a minimum. I actually suggest this all year. I didn’t say skip powder. I said keep it minimal. Powders tend to make the face look dry. A little will go a long way. Use just enough to set your makeup and, if needed, up your coverage a bit. That’s it. No more. Also, if you are oily, don’t keep piling on powder; try oil blotting sheets instead. It will keep makeup from looking cakey.

Next, don’t be afraid of color in the winter. This goes for lips, eyes, and cheeks. I see so many women who automatically pull out their brown and taupe makeup as soon as fall arrives. Don’t! Winter is a great time to explore berries and rich wine tones. I suggest you choose between playing up your eyes or lips. Don’t go heavy on both. So, if you go with a smokey look with deep berries on your eyes, choose a soft berry gloss for your lips.

Overall, winter is a great time to experiment with new ideas for your skin and makeup. Try our tips, and keep your makeup looking just as great as it does in the spring and summer.
