If you are having problems with your skin, perhaps merely changing your current routine will help.

A good skin care program is key to the skin we want to look great. Avoiding products for dry skin when you tend to have oily skin is the best way to avoid confusing yourself as well as your skin. It’s important that you really know your skin type even during the different seasons. Keep reading for some important skin care tips.

If you have very oily skin and nothing you do helps ease the situation, you should ask a dermatologist for help. Diet and skin care habits are equally important in this situation. Try not to strip your face completely of oil when you wash it. Are you using bar soap? People from oily skin shouldn’t use bar soap because it doesn’t actually help them cleanse. There is also retinoid based medication that can cut down on your skin’s oil production wherever it gets applied. You can easily aggravate your oil glands because they tend to be sensitive and can react to all kinds of external influences.

Water temperature matters, so be careful when showering or washing your face. Dermatologists recommend using only tepid water on the face for best results in the long term. Avoid the steaming hot water showers while standing with your face directly underneath the shower head. If the water is more than tepid it can remove too much of the oil in your skin causing it to dry out. Cold water is also not advisable since it can shock your face and cause broken capillaries.

Using slightly warm water to wash your face is perfect.

If you suffer from dry skin you need to pay extra special attention to your care routine, don’t cleanse too much as this can cause serious aggravation. One tactic you can try is using a gentle cleanser only at night after the day is done. Plain warm water is all that is usually necessary in the morning. For dry skin try adding a moisturizing cream after you’ve washed your face.

Dermatologists agree most of the time about skin care and they all agree that a good sunscreen is the most important part of skin care. You are undoubtedly aware of the damaging effects of the sun if you get too much of it. Even if you aren’t sunbathing on a regular basis, after years of living in the world you will suffer from cumulative sun damage and it will eventually start to become apparent. Also, avoid thinking that going to a tanning salon gets you off the hook because it does not.

Many people who have dry skin also tend to suffer with sensitive skin too. With this skin type it’s important to be extra careful not to let your skin become too dry. It’s extra important to moisturize naturally in the winter months to avoid dry skin in the cold weather, do this naturally to avoid those harsh chemical products you might find on the market today. There are many natural and safe alternatives to commercial products that tend to use petroleum based products that you shouldn’t put on your face.

You can do all sorts of things to make your skin look and feel better no matter what kind of skin you have. The best thing you can do for your skin is to find a reputable source to learn from, learn everything you can and then find a good routine that works for you and stick to it.

The hardest part of getting your skin care right for your particular skin type is the beginning. You are learning and trying to take everything in, plus you are researching products and trying to find what works for you.
