Our culture is obsessed with youth, when those first signs of lines and wrinkles begin to appear you begin to seek out ways to eliminate them. Wrinkle removal products are big business but many of them will not eliminate the signs of aging. There are a variety of things you can do such as botox injections, getting a face lift, laser resurfacing, dermabrasion and chemical peels.

Chemical peels come in a few different methods depending on how deep your wrinkles are. The deep level will give the best results, it will also take about two hours to perform and about two weeks for recovery. The medium level peel will give you an improved texture and will be about an hour to perform. It can burn and the way it works is that your skin will crack and then peel to reveal a new layer of skin. The lightest method is the superficial peel that may need to be done a few times to get the desired results. They take about 15 minutes and do not penetrate very deeply.

To refine the topmost layer of skin dermabrasion is advised. It uses an electronic instrument that scrapes the skin with a wire brush. The results are softened lines and smoothness. There can be side effects such as scarring and permanent changes in the color of the skin.

Laser peels or laser resurfacing are a chemical procedure. Carbon dioxide lasers are used to remove wrinkled and damaged skin. It can be done in certain spots or all over the face. Some of the risks are that you can get burns from the laser heat, herpes infections can be activated and you can get scarring.

Cosmetic surgery is the most invasive, the face lift will also produce the best results as it will tone and smooth out the contours of the face. To be a good candidate for this procedure you must have some elasticity in your skin and is best on those whose skin has just begun to sag. It will remove the deep nasolabial folds from the nose to the mouth, define the jawline and give better definition to the cheekbones. Nerve injury or infection are possible risks.

A simple and quick way to plump out lines and wrinkles is Botox. This can be done in specific areas like the crow’s feet around your eyes or the lines between your eyebrows. It will be absorbed by the body after a few months so maintenance is required to maintain the results. Wrinkle removal can be achieved in a variety of ways, it all depends on the condition of your skin and what you are comfortable with.
