Recently, dovo straight razors have been making a comeback. Men are getting fed up with safety razors and electric blades, and with good reason. They’re realizing that a good, close, comfortable shave is worth the couple extra minutes it takes to use a straight razor.

Despite all of the advances in technology, nothing invented since the straight razor can give you a closer shave. Even thoroughly modern barbershops that use expensive technology to cut and clean hair rely on the old fashioned straight razor to give a close shave. The secret is in the unguarded blade standing alone. The angle of the blade to the face can be adjusted with a flick of the wrist. This simply isn’t possible with a safety razor, where the blade is at a fixed angle. Nor is it possible with an electric razor, which are infamous for leaving behind stubble.

A straight razor is just as comfortable as any safety razor. Extra blades and indicator strips with built in lotions may sound nice, but it’s all just a marketing gimmick. Don’t pay attention to the commercials, let your face decide which feels more comfortable. It’s well known by men everywhere that electric razors are lack luster in the comfort department, so once again, the straight razors have the edge.

The precision of straight razors is unmatched by electrics and safety razors. Barbers use safety razors because they allow them to perfectly groom moustaches and beards. If you don’t want to remove all of your facial hair, a safety razor will help you to remove just the hair that you want gone, and nothing else.

Straight razors beat electrics and safety razors when it comes to cost too. They may be more a more expensive investment initially, but they never need replacement blades or recharging.

Safety razors are cheaper than straight razors at first, but there’s a catch. Replacement blades are expensive, so much so that many companies will give away the handles for free, knowing that men will more than make up for the cost of the handle in replacement blades. Don’t let them keep charging you for replacement blades. A straight razor never needs replacements.

The only category where a straight razor comes up short of its more modern counterparts is ease of use. The first couple of times, a straight razor can be hard to use. It also takes longer per shave than a safety razor or an electric. Most men who try one agree, though, a straight razor shave is worth the extra time. There’s a reason barbers don’t use electric razors or safety razors. Maybe it’s time you discovered it for yourself.

Most shave sets come with a nicely designed stand that coordinates with the razor and the mug brush that hangs on the stand. Some sets come with a mug bowl that matches the razor and the brush; others do not and can be purchased separately. There are some other classic sets that come with a mug cup just like the old fashioned barbers used to use.

There is a set that matches any d?cor. They come in wood frames, steel, gold plated and ivory. There are even bone and marble sets that are beautiful. A country looking bathroom or French provincial will be enhanced by a wooden or gold set. And a sleek modern room will look sharp with a sleek silver or platinum set.

Straight razors beat electrics and safety razors when it comes to cost too. They may be more a more expensive investment initially, but they never need replacement blades or recharging.

Straight razors are also better for the environment. No replacement blades means no trash when you finish your shave. You also don’t need to worry about the carbon footprint you produce with batteries or recharging. A straight razor produces zero waste.

Shaving with a straight razor may take a little longer than using a safety razor or an electric, but it’s well worth it. A straight razor gives the best shave attainable. Sometimes some of the oldest tools turn out the be the best.
